Summary:

The Trade Compliance Specialist will support Arkwin by handling a variety of administrative compliance functions.  The Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for site wide export and import compliance programs.  These include coordination with staff that preform transaction processing and transaction due diligence, analysis of red flags, complex troubleshooting, assisting with training and procedure writing, and management of trade compliance recordkeeping systems, and coordination with business partners, freight forwarders and customer brokers, and various internal departments.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares complex license or permit applications, and other international business documents
  • Manages government authorizations throughout their life cycle
  • Works pro-actively with all departments to prevent trade disruptions
  • Analyzes contracts and identify trade compliance issues
  • Ensures global trade record and maintained in accordance with document retention requirements
  • Assesses compliance processes and recommends necessary improvements and document procedures
  • Provides guidance regarding compliance with export regulations that govern access to technology
  • Develops best practices and policies and devises process innovations to improve the quality and efficiency of the export compliance operations
  • Participates in internal audit activities pertaining to the organization’s Compliance initiatives
  • Works with other departments to identify training needs, process gaps, and additional areas for Compliance support
  • Assists in review of various documents to support various contract and clause reviews
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong familiarity with internal traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Strong computer skills including ability to research orders and prepare reports
  • Experience with international business transactions and shipping documents
  • Ability to develop or revise procedures, work instructions, forms, and business flowcharts
  • Ability to lead and train other in trade compliance subject matter
  • Knowledge of contract review
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize tasks based on level of urgency
  • Ability to work independently, and at times, with minimal supervision
  • Strong team player and willing to assist in new challenges presented to the department and organization

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with export/import regulatory compliance
