Arkwin’s linear dampers provide resistive forces to improve feel for aircraft control surfaces and dissipate energy from aerodynamic or mechanical loads. Our linear dampers endure millions of cycles under high side loads in dither conditions across the most demanding aerospace and defense environments. Designs can be self-contained with an integral reservoir or connected to the hydraulic system. Stepped damping curves can be developed to suit each application’s specific requirements.

Arkwin linear dampers and main rotor dampers are engineered for the unique demands of rotary airframes, where managing vibration, oscillation, and aerodynamic loads is critical to safe and reliable operation. Our dampers feature hydraulically balanced pistons, active and passive damping rate valves, and high side load tolerance — delivering precise resistive force as a function of piston velocity.
